Travel Item Introduction:
In addition to tracking and managing your time when you are stationary and consulting Clients, either at your offices or theirs, BullRush also automatically detects when you are traveling between locations.
BullRush will recognise travel when you either move a significant distance away from a Saved Client Location or it detects that your mobile device is no longer static or stationary (and is now mobile or moving.)
The currently active ONSITE (GPS) or Manual (Client Task) Time Item will be closed and a Travel Time Items will be created whenever BullRush detects either of the above circumstances.
For more information on Travel, ONSITE (GPS) or Manual (Client Task) Time Items please refer to the relevant articles in the Time Items section of the Using BullRush category in the BullRush Help Center.
Travel Settings define the parameters which define how you charge Clients for Travel Time Items that are associated with work or correspondence that you are undertaking with that specific Client.
There are five settings which can be adjusted within the Travel Settings section of the My Settings Page which define whether you charge for travel and the unit values which you use to charge for travel with. These are the "Charge for Travel Toggle," "Distance Unit(s)," "Charge Travel By," "Rate Per Hour" and "Rate Per Kilometre" settings, each of which will be explained below.
Charge for Travel Toggle:
The Charge for Travel Toggle determines whether you charge for travel or not. While this is disabled you will not be able to organise and process Travel Time Items for invoicing. It is possible to adjust the various Travel Settings parameters while Charge for Travel is disabled, but they will not be active or take effect until Charge for Travel is enabled.
By default the toggle will be OFF which is represented by the toggle button being positioned to the left and colored white.
Charge for Travel is enabled or ON when the toggle button is positioned to the right and colored purple.
To adjust the toggle button and turn Charge for Travel ON and OFF, simply tap or swipe the button.
The Distance Unit setting is defined by a larger toggle button which determines whether you want to measure distance using the Metric System (Kilometres) or the Empirical System (Miles).
The unit (either Kilometres or Miles) which is currently selected will be highlighted purple and have white text. [Image?]
The unit (either Kilometres or Miles) which is currently selected will be white and have black text. [Image?]
To change the selected Distance Unit, simply tap on the one which you would like to use for calculating travel with.
Charge Travel By:
The Charge Travel By setting uses an identical toggle button to the Distance Unit setting which determines whether you want to charge for travel based on the distance you travel or by the time/length of the travel.
The unit (either Distance or Hours) which is currently selected will be highlighted purple and have white text. [Image?]
The unit (either Distance or Hours) which is currently selected will be white and have black text. [Image?]
To change the selected Charge Travel By unit, simply tap on the one which you would like to use for invoicing Travel Items.
Rate Per Hour:
The Rate Per Hour field defines the amount you will charge Clients for each hour of travel. This setting can be adjusted at any time, but will not be used for invoice processing if you have set the "Charge Travel By" toggle button to the "Distance" option.
To adjust the Rate Per Hour, simply tap on the text field which displays the current rate per hour to bring up the numeric keyboard. By default the Rate Per Hour should be set to "0" (zero).
The keyboards for iOS and Android are slightly different but the process for setting the Rate Per Hour value is practically identical.
The Android keyboard is pictured above on the left and the iOS (Apple) keyboard is pictured above on the right.
When the keyboard comes up, simply enter the numerical value for the Rate Per Hour you want to charge for Travel Time Items. When you are happy with the figure you have entered you can either tap anywhere outside of the keyboard to close it or use the "Done"/"Next" buttons that are located on the keyboard to navigate to the next setting field or close the keyboard.
For iOS devices the "Done" button is located in the top right of the keyboard and when pressed, closes the keyboard.
For Android devices the "Next" button is located to the right of the numeric keyboard and when pressed navigates you to the next setting field ("Rate Per Kilometre"), allowing you to immediately adjust the value for that as well.
Rate Per Kilometre/Mile (Distance Unit):
The Rate Per Kilometre/Mile (Distance Unit) field defines the amount you will charge Clients for each unit of distance that you have travelled in the Travel Time Item which you are going to use to invoice them.
You can determine which unit, either Kilometres or Miles, you want to use in the "Distance Unit" setting which was explained earlier in this article.
This setting can be adjusted at any time, but will not be used for invoice processing if you have set the "Charge Travel By" toggle button to the "Hours" option.
The title for this setting "Rate Per (Distance Unit)" will change based on your choice of Distance Unit such that the title for this setting will either be "Rate Per Kilometre" or "Rate Per Mile."
The procedure for setting the Rate Per (Distance Unit) is identical to the one used for setting the Rate Per Hour, which is described in detail above. Simply tap on the field which displays the current value for Rate Per (Distance Unit) and enter the new rate using the keyboard which comes up.
